Namaste

May the inner light within ourselves continue to shine

In October 2003 at our annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Candlelight Vigil, we dedicated the meditation garden that lies behind our shelter, the Namaste Meditation Garden.

Namaste is a Sanskrit word that designates the merging of the spirit and the matter—the meeting of the self and the Self.

When a person utters "namaste" to another, she says, "I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells. I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light, and of peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are one."

The meditation garden was designed and is maintained by our friends, the Master Gardeners from the UNH Cooperative Extension.
The namaste meditation garden provides a quiet space for introspection, tranquility and healing. To New Beginnings' clients it is a sanctuary.
