New Hampshire Coalition Against
Domestic and Sexual Violence

Founded in 1977 as the New Hampshire Coalition Against Family Violence, and expanded in 1985 to the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, the Coalition promotes statewide networking and resource sharing among domestic violence and sexual assault programs.

The Coalition assists its 14 member groups by providing technical assistance and training, support in developing new programs, peer evaluation of services and by serving as a statewide clearing house and coordinating organization. It administers state and federal contracts that provide funding for its member programs. Additionally, the Coalition advocates for legislative changes that affect battered women and sexual assault survivors.

Volunteers are an integral part of the crisis work done by Coalition groups. During 1991, 456 volunteers donated over 144,969 hours answering crisis calls, counseling battered women and sexual assault survivors and providing shelter and advocacy.
In addition to providing services, Coalition groups work to prevent domestic violence and rape by providing speakers and films to community groups and schools.
